Kelly has been working in the land planning and development industry for almost 30 years. Her great love of and respect for land – and the urging of a mentor, fellow consultant and friend – led her to form Landworks Consultants Inc., a land management and planning practice, in 1997.
Landworks’ projects have included work for both the private and public sectors. Projects for the private sector have included land-use planning; site investigations; the due-diligence process on numerous holdings; developing land management plans, land disposal options and on-going property management for heavy industry; and public consultation.
Public sector assignments have included conducting site investigations, analyses, market research and most-appropriate use recommendations; doing preliminary planning for a large business/light industrial park; compiling community profiles and writing official community plans; as well as overseeing consulting studies and contracts for a rapid-transit project.
Prior to forming Landworks, as planning and development manager for landowners, Kelly led multi-disciplinary teams in preparing comprehensive development plans for large-scale, long-term projects. This entailed extensive community relations, public consultation, facilitation and negotiations with local government, First Nations, other levels of government and agencies, as well as special-interest groups.
To complement her practical experience, Kelly completed the Urban Land Economics program, the Site Planning program and is a fully accredited member of the Planning Institute of B.C., Canadian Institute of Planners and Real Estate Institute of B.C.
Kelly believes in finding economically-viable, socially-responsible solutions to land-use management issues that work with nature and the natural environment.
